Capt. Brian Rice - From an early age, Brian honed his fishing skills on the Navesink River, starting with a 12-foot aluminum boat, where he rowed with determination to catch snapper blues, weakfish, and other species. As he advanced to a 16-foot Garvey boat, he began bunker chunking for striped bass under the Highlands Bridge during the late '80s—a time when the striped bass population was beginning to recover from severe overfishing. With bass still scarce, landing even one fish was a victory, but these challenging conditions sharpened Brian's techniques, leading him to develop the expertise that defines his charter services today.
Transitioning to trolling for stripers on his own boat, Brian mastered the methods that have become his signature in the pursuit of trophy linesiders. In the early '90s, he expanded his fishing ventures offshore, targeting big game species. By 2004, he had earned his captain's license, and his career has since taken him from the Northeast Coast to the Bahamas and Mexico, nearly exhausting the map with his fishing expeditions.
Jersey Devil Charters – Based in Fair Haven, NJ, Jersey Devil Sportfishing has rapidly become a recognized name in the industry, driven by Brian's leadership and a forward-thinking team. His 31’ Contender, powered by twin 250 Yamaha four-stroke engines, is a testament to his commitment to excellence.
A proven tournament winner, Brian consistently places in the top five in nearly every competition he enters, with several first-place finishes, including the prestigious 2006 American Striper Association Tournament in the Highlands. Beyond stripers, Captain Brian is an accomplished offshore captain, guiding clients to tuna, mahi, sharks, and even marlin off the Jersey coast.
